New four-member executive administration, known as the Holy Epistasia, for Mount Athos – (VIDEO + PHOTOS)

A new four-member executive organ of the Holy Community, the council of representatives of all 20 monasteries located on the semi-autonomous, was appointed on Sunday, following centuries-old Athonite tradition.
The executive council, known as the Holy Epistasia, will be headed by Megistis Lavras’ representative Elder Pavlos. The head of the Holy Epistasia is known as the Protepistate.
Representatives of the holy monasteries of Doheariou, Xenofontos and Esfigmenou complete the executive council.
The ceremony was attended by Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Costas Vlassis and Mount Athos civil governor Athanasios Martinos.
