A new Orthodox chapel will soon adorn the stark Antarctic landscape, as Russian Orthodox Archbishop, His Eminence Kallistrat, of Gorno-Altai and Chemal, late last month consecrated the site for a future chapel in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonder-worker.

There are already at least two Orthodox chapels and one church on the earth’s southernmost continent

With the blessing of His Holiness Russian Patriarch Kirill, Arch. Kallistrat arrived at a Russian research station on the coast of Queen Maud Land.
