New restrictive measures on Church-going issued in Austria

New restrictive measures in Austria will extend to Jan. 17, with the Holy Metropolis of Austria announcing a new framework of rules for the ecclesiastical and liturgical life of the Church, and the faithful, during the specific period.

As with previous measures, Church services will be held without the presence of worshippers, although they will be broadcast.

Cathedrals and chapels will, however, remain open after the services for personal prayer and spiritual guidance for the faithful, but with all social distancing and public health guidelines and recommendations in place.

As with other Orthodox Churches elsewhere, the holy sacraments of marriage and baptism will not be scheduled.
