NSW: The Annual Sunday School Camp at Vision Valley
The Annual 2023 Sunday School Camp took place from Tuesday 2nd to Thursday 5th October 2023, at Vision Valley in Arcadia of NSW. With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, 82 primary school children aged 10-12 from Sunday Schools across the Parishes came together for this exciting Orthodox Adventure.
The children enjoyed a variety of activities, including craft, swimming, archery, high ropes challenges, canoeing, mountain biking and hymns and Christian songs.
The theme of the camp, “I belong to God” (Gen. 50), allowed the children to explore the lives of saints who lived knowing that they belong to God. The children were placed in 6 groups dedicated to these Holy Martyr Saints: St Eustathios and his family, St Catherine, St Kyriake, St Sebastian, St Xenophon, and St Thekla. They also learnt the new Apolytikion of Saint Paisios, our Patron Saint and Protector of Australia.
On the final day of camp, the children chanted and participated in the Divine Liturgy and partook in the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist.
