Orthodox Christians in Georgia and across the world are celebrating Epiphany today, January 19, during which the Georgian Orthodox Church holds a mass baptism and conducts water blessing rituals.

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II is holding a festive liturgy at Holy Trinity Cathedral.

After the liturgy, a water blessing ceremony will be held in the yard of the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Epiphany is one of the 12 main Christian feasts that celebrate the revelation of the Son of God as human–Jesus Christ. The occasion commemorated the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.
