Orthodox Church in Montenegro accepts govt offer for dialogue over controversial, anti-Church law

The Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral has accepted an invitation by the small Adriatic country’s prime minister, Dusko Markovic, to send representatives for a dialogue regarding a controversial law passed earlier in the year – which the Orthodox Church says threatens its assets and relics and belittles its dignity as the pre-eminent faith in Montenegro.

The Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, under the Serbian Patriarchate, has continued to insist that dialogue is the only path that can lead to a resolution of the matter, which has been accompanied by continuous state harassment of Orthodox hierarchs, clerics and the faithful in the country.
