The Orthodox Church in Montenegro continues to face what it calls threats by the government against its stature, dignity and even property.

The Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church has announced that on Dec. 21, after the Divine Liturgy, a protest rally will be organized in the city of Nikšić, the second largest in the Adriatic country.

The Church in Montenegro is opposed to provisions in a draft bill, warning of an attack against religious freedom and the legal status of religious communities. A statement by the Montenegro Church also dismissed recent claims by the government that its representatives declined to discuss the draft bill with the government, referring to an attempt to deceive the people.
