The Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society (Munich), which is working in the Alexander Metochion in Jerusalem, plans to appeal Israeli authorities’ decision to transfer the metochion’s property rights to the Russian organization of the same name, head of the German Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Nikolay Vorontsov-Hofmann said.
“Lawyers have already begun working. Two days ago, our lawyers, first of all, sent inquiries to the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Justice Ministry in order to confirm to us what is happening. Our lawyers are urgently working on an appeal,” Vorontsov-Hofmann said.
The organization has not received any official notice from authorities yet, he said. “Judging by the press, the decision was made on December 30, 2019,” Vorontsov-Hofmann said. Leagally, an appeal can be filed within 60 days.
