The 20th meeting of the Orthodox Episcopal Assembly of Benelux was held on Tuesday via teleconference, due to the ongoing health crisis.

The assembly was chaired by the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Metropolitan of Belgium, His Eminence Athinagoras, with participants including Bishop Mark of Neamts, a representative of Metropolitan Joseph of the Romanian Patriarchate, Bishop Dositheos of the Patriarchate of Georgia, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Bishop Ioakeim of Apollonia, an assistant bishop to the Holy Metropolis of Belgium.

Due to the situation, the agenda of the online meeting was limited. Metropolitan Athenagoras informed the other Hierarchs about the general situation of life of the Orthodox Church in the three Benelux countries.

The attending hierarchs joined their prayers for the speedy recovery of the Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Irinej, and the Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, along with the recovery of all patients suffering from the Covid-19 virus, while expressing their warm thanks to all health care professionals.
