Orthodoxy blooms in Latvia

The Orthodox Church continues to makes inroads in the Baltic republic of Latvia, restoring numerous Churches destroyed or seized under the Soviet era, while also building new Christian places of worship.
During a recent meeting in Riga, Latvia’s capital, the Holy Synod of the Latvian Orthodox Church said the number of Orthodox parishes in the country has increased from 93 in 1992 to 126 today.

Church hierarchs, in fact, decided to send a letter of thanks to the country’s government, expressing gratitude for the favorable stance shown by state towards the Latvian Church, as well as for the support of traditional Christian values in the country.
