Orthodoxy perseveres in eastern Congo
Orthodoxy and Hellenism continue to persevere in one of the remote corners of sub-Saharan Africa. Archimandrite Timotheos Duba, of the Alexandria Patriarchate, continues to minister to a handful of Orthodox faithful at the parish of St. Nicholas, in the eastern Congo town of Bunia.
The parish over the weekend organized a soup kitchen for abandoned street children and children with hearing impairment. Spoons were also widely distributed, as many children have never used utensils, but only their fingers.
Συσσίτιο στην Ενορία του Αγίου Νικολάου Μπούνιας, σήμερα τη Κυριακή 06.10. πρώτα για τα εγκαταλελειμμένα παιδιά του δρόμου και στη συνέχεια για τα κωφάλαλα παιδιά στα οποία προσφέραμε κουτάλια για να τα χρησιμοποιούνε και να μην τρώνε με τα χέρια! Μην τα ξεχάσουμε!Le repas en commun aujourd’hui le 06.10 dans la Paroisse Saint Nicolas Bunia, d’ abord pour les enfants abandonnés de la rue et ensuite pour les enfants sourds-muets auxquels nous avons aussi offert des cuillères pour s’en servir et ne pas manger avec les mains ! Ne les oublions pas !
