The Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios, was held by police authorities for six hours this week, ostensibly to answer for the peaceful rallies held in Podgorica and other cities on Sunday against the contentious law.
The head of the Orthodox Church in Montenegro, part of the Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate, was later released by police without any reason given for his detention, but with a later prosecutor later filing charges for violation of rules governing public assemblies amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A group of faithful gathered outside the police precinct in a show of support for their hierarch.
