On October 8, 2020, the day of the passing of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the Orthodox community on Koh Chang Island (Trat Province, Thailand) marked its patron saint’s day.

During the festive day, the Divine Liturgy celebrated on the island was led by rector of the church Father Roman Borodich. He was assisted by Father Ioann Moroz, head of the chancellery of the Thailand diocesan administration and rector of the church of the Protecting Veil in Pattaya, and Deacon Constantine Ivaschenko, a cleric of the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Bangkok. The liturgical hymns were sung by the cathedral choir directed by V. Marshalovsky.

During the divine service, prayers were lifted up to the Lord for deliverance from the pernicious infection. After the liturgy, a procession with the cross was held around the church. ‘Many Years’ was sung for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, for acting administrator of the Diocese of Thailand Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore, who celebrated his name day on that day, and for the rector, workers and parishioners of the St. Sergius church on Chang Island.

Through parishioners’ efforts, a festive repast was arranged. Then Father Roman took all those who wished on the first excursion to the museum of the history of the Orthodox Church in Thailand. It was formed at the St. Sergius church with a blessing and personal participation of Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), secretary of the Diocese of Thailand and founder of the Orthodox mission in the Kingdom of Thailand.
