On Thursday, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, during which Archimandrite Paisie Teodorescu was ordained to the episcopacy.

The Patriarch recommended the new hierarch for the additional vacant position of patriarchal auxiliary bishop.

The ordination took place during the Divine Liturgy, after the Trisagion hymn.

Following the ordination, the patriarchal auxiliary bishop Varlaam of Ploiesti read the Patriarchal Confirmation Act, by which the new hierarch was recognized as a patriarchal auxiliary bishop, with the title Bishop Paisie of Sinaia.

His Grace Bishop Paisie of Sinaia received the specific vestments and the crosier from Patriarch Daniel.

The Patriarch of Romania briefly emphasized the character traits of the newly ordained bishop Paisie.

“Since the main virtues and merits of His Grace, the Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Paisie of Sinaia were highlighted in the patriarchal act of confirmation, we only say a few words.”

“His Grace is a very studious intellectual, as seen in his doctoral thesis and the album about the Patriarchal Residence and the institutions on the Metropolitan Hill.”

“He is a pious, industrious and very meticulous man as regards the order in administration, which is a necessity today, especially if we consider ourselves European and Latin.”

“He also has a deep ecclesial conscience. He cares about the institution more than himself. This zeal to be in the service of the Church was decisive for recommending him as a Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop because this institution is increasingly in demand through its many activities,” His Beatitude said on July 20.

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church elected the new patriarchal auxiliary bishop in its working session on July 4, 2023.
