On February 18, 2021, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, had a telephone talk with Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana whom the Bishops’ Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church, at the Church of St. Sava, has elected to the Patriarchal See. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church warmly congratulated Metropolitan Porfirije on his election and wished him much strength and fortitude from the Lord on his forthcoming path of Patriarchal ministry.
Having thanked His Holiness Patriarch Kirill for the congratulations and best wishes, His Eminence Porfirije asked His Holiness for his prayers for the success of the service entrusted to him.
The elected Patriarch of Serbia was also congratulated in a telephone talk by the Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.
