Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II continues pastoral visit to Madagascar

The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Beatitude Theodoros II, officiated at con-celebratory services, on the occasion of the great feast day of the Elevation of the Venerable and Life-Giving Cross, held at the Holy Metropolis of Antananarivo and Northern Madagascar.
Following the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude inaugurated the new Bishopric, which is destined to become the center of the Holy Metropolis.
The resident Metropolitan and shepherd, His Eminence Ignatios of Antananarivo and Northern Madagascar, along with the Bishop of Toliara and Southern Madagascar, His Grace Prodromos, co-officiated at the services.
His Grace spoke to the Orthodoxia News Agency on the joyous pastoral visit of the Alexandria Patriarch to the island nation, as well as the daily struggle faced by residents of southern Madagascar, who among other difficulties, suffer from a prolonged drought.
Bishop Prodromos also referred to the inauguration of the Holy Monastery of St. Joseph the Hesychast by His Beatitude Theodoros II.
