Patriarch of Antioch John X receives Russian Church’s Metropolitan of Volokolamsk in Damascus

The Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, His Beatitude John X this week received the Russian Orthodox Church’s Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, His Eminence Hilarion, at the Patriarchate’s seat in Damascus.

Hilarion, who is also the head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external Church relations, conveyed the fraternal best wishes of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, to the Patriarch of Antioch.

Both hierarchs discussed prospects for further developing cooperation between the Patriarchates of Antioch and Moscow, along with humanitarian aid programs and issues on the inter-Orthodox agenda.

His Beatitude expressed his particular gratitude to the Patriarch of Russia and the faithful of the Russian Church for their support of the Christians in the Middle East.
