The Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Most Godly Beatitude Theophilos III, on Wednesday spoke by phone with Greek Deputy FM Andreas Katsaniotis, who holds the expatriate Greeks and ecclesiastical diplomacy portfolio.
On his part, the Greek official assured the Patriarch of Jerusalem of Athens’ volition to continue to stand by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in the Holy Land, while reiterating Greece’s solid support of the latter’s ancient rights and privileges, as well as the safeguarding of the Holy Pilgrimages.
In a related development, His Most Godly Beatitude on Thursday received visiting Greek Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos, as the latter is on an official visit to Israel.
After discussions revolving around issues of common interests, the Patriarch of Jerusalem accompanied the minister on a tour of the Patriarchate’s most historic premises.
