The clergy and faithful of the Russian Orthodox Patriarchal parishes in the United States, Canada and Mexico over the weekend marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of a special union of parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in North America.
The commemoration was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the repose of the first administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the United States, the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim – a noted hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church in the 20th Century.
A Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Sunday in the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate throughout North America.
At the conclusion of the services, an epistle of the Bishop of Sourozh, His Grace Matthew, was read in all affiliated parishes in North America.
