Patron Feast of Chisinau celebrated in the Metropolitan Cathedral
On Monday, 14th October 2019, when the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau
Praying with the metropolitan were Vicar Bishops Ioan of Soroca and Siluan of Orhei. The arch-pastors were assisted at the service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean, archpriest Octavian Mosin, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Pastoral Activity Among Youth, the Cathedral clergy, who prayed in the presence of numerous Orthodox Christians arrived from different parts of the country to celebrate the Patron Feast of the capital.
During the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and laity united in thought and prayed to the Mother of God for protection and intercession before the Righteous Judge.
Praying among the Christians in the cathedral were interim Mayor of Chisinau Andrei Talmaci and members of Municipal Council, as well as representatives of twinning cities.
This Divine Service was very special for subdeacon Alexandru Lai, who was ordained deacon for the Meeting of the Lord church in Chisinau. The young cleric received the Metropolitan’s congratulations and arch-pastoral guidance on pastoral ministry.
Speaking to the parishioners, Metropolitan Vladimir underlined the fact that Chisinau is a truly blessed city, under the protection and intercession of the Mother of God before the throne of God Almighty.
His Eminence called the church-goers to thank God and the Theotokos, and officiated the Thanks-Giving service after the Liturgy.
The liturgical feast finished with a Cross procession around the Cathedral, then Chisinau Patron Feast was inaugurated in the Cathedral Square.
Today Chisinau celebrates its 583rd anniversary since first mentioning in chronicles.
