Thousands of people again took to the streets in cities around Montenegro for peaceful rallies against a controversial law passed last month by the government, one regarding religious institutions in the small Adriatic country.

The Orthodox Church in Montenegro has very vocally charged that the law is mostly aimed against it, threatening its cathedrals, estates and relics with confiscation.

In referring to the peaceful rallies and mass prayer services, the Metropolitan Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios, cited a “miracle” for Montenegro and all of Europe.

He added “… My thanks to the Ecumenical Patriarch, to the Patriarchs of Jerusalem and Moscow, and to all those who have conveyed their support from around the world.”
