Permanent Holy Synod of Church of Greece to convene on Tues.

Members of the permanent Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece will convene tomorrow, Tuesday, in order to consider the Church’s stance in the face of still imposed state restrictions on Church-going during the holding of services in cathedrals and chapels, as well as to deliberate on a handful of incidents that occurred during the recent services on the great feast day of the Epiphany, which was celebrated last Wednesday.  In some cases, Greek authorities imposed fines.

In a related Church of Greece development, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, on Monday received the president of the Committee “Greece 2021”, Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki , for talks that focused directly on cooperation between the Church and the committee, which was set up to organize events for this year’s bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence.
