Perth: His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea Meets with the Church Committee of Sts Constantine and Helene
On Tuesday the 17 October 2023, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea held a meeting with the Church Committee of Sts Constantine and Helene. The meeting was hosted by His Grace in the offices of the Archdiocesan District of Perth located in Dianella.
His Grace opened the meeting with prayer and a spiritual reflection on hope and the importance of persevering from the recently translated book of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia titled “The Priestly Ethos”. His Grace commended the Church Committee for their initiative and continuous hard work in the Parish and encouraged them all to stay united with one other, under the guidance of their Parish Priest, Fr Terry Gerovasilis, and the leadership of His Eminence.
Following this, Father Terry Gerovasilis updated His Grace and the Committee on various new matters and issues in the Parish. In particular, His Grace and the Committee discussed plans for 2024 which is a special year of celebration. 2024 will be the 100th anniversary since the establishment of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, as well as the 100th anniversary since the laying of the foundation stone of the first Greek Orthodox Church in WA, Sts Constantine and Helene, on the 24th of July 1924 by the late Metropolitan Christophoros (Knitis) of blessed memory.
His Grace Bishop Elpidios conveyed to Fr Terry and the Church Committee the love and Paternal blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and again thanked everyone, on behalf of His Eminence, for the enormous love and passion that they show towards the Church and our Holy Archdiocese.
