A policeman injured at the explosion of a bomb outside the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Dionysios in Kolonaki is out of danger, Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) sources said on Thursday.

According to police speaking to ANA, the church sexton notified police early on Thursday morning that a suspicious box was left outside the church. The policeman who went to inspect it was injured when it blew up at 7:10 a.m. He was hospitalised but out of danger. The sexton was lightly injured in the face and was preventatively taken to hospital.

There was no warning call about the bomb, which experts said was not very powerful. The church is on the corner of Skoufa and Lykavittou Streets, part of the popular shopping centre of Kolonaki.

The bombing was condemned by several parties, MPs and the Central Board of Jewish Communities, among others.
