The following speech of Dr. Rıza Nur, who served as the Deputy of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (Minister of National Education) between 4 May 1920 and 13 December 1920 and the Minister of Health between 24 December 1921 and 27 October 1923, with Topal Osman is the confession of the genocide:
I said, “Agha, clean Pontus well!”
“I’m cleaning it up,” he said.
I said, “Don’t leave stone by stone in the Greek villages.”
“I do so, but I keep churches and good buildings in case they need them,” he said.
“Destroy them too, even send their stones away, scatter them. As soon as it happens, they should not be able to say that there was a church here again.”
“Let me do so. I couldn’t think so much.”
