President of Albania attends blood-donation session, ‘Happiness Is in Giving’

On Saturday, Feb 1, 2020, President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, visited the Synodical Center of the Orthodox Cathedral “Resurrection of Christ” in Tirana, where together with a large number of Orthodox clergy and believers, participated in a blood donation session initiative, initiated in cooperation with the “Alliance for Blood Donation.”

Initially, President Meta expressed gratitude to the young people who volunteered to make a humanitarian contribution to this noble cause, praising their act as a high sense of social responsibility.

At the same time, President Meta expressed his gratitude to the Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and all Albania, the spiritual leader of the Albanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Anastasios Janoulatos, for his direct engagement in this cause, through the call he made to believers in the mass, to join this humanitarian activity.

“The Orthodox Church and all other religious communities have responded immediately to the call to make a contribution, in the framework of the Blood Donation Alliance, calling on their believers to come together in this cause.

I express my deep gratitude to the Autocephalous Orthodox Church for dedicating this donation session to children with thalassemia, who need blood more than anyone.

I also thank all the believers who came today to donate blood. Our commitment to conduct other blood donation sessions will continue to be high and I am convinced that with the support and mobilization of all religious communities, we will extend donation sessions throughout the country, thereby facilitating blood needs and promoting volunteering not only in the cause of blood donation, but also for other social causes,” emphasized the President of the Republic.
