July 25, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America attended the Order of AHEPA Grand Banquet of the 102nd Supreme Convention in Cyprus. International leaders and AHEPA members and associates were in attendance, including the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus Julie D. Fisher, the Greek Ambassador to Cyprus Ioannis Papameletiou, and the President of the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations Kyriakos Papastylianou.
At the event, the 2024 AHEPA Socrates Award was presented to President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides. The Order of AHEPA Socrates Award is the highest award AHEPA bestows, presented every two years. Past winners include Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of North & South America Archbishop Iakovos (1988); U.S. President George H.W. Bush (1990); and President of the Republic of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos (2007).
