Program for the celebration of the Patronal Feast Day of Archbishop Makarios of Australia
On Friday, 19 January 2024, the day in which we celebrate the memory of Saint Makarios the Great, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia celebrates his Patronal Feast Day.
On the eve of the Feast Day, Thursday 18 January (6-7:30pm), the Great Hierarchical Vespers will take place officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney.
On the main day of the Feast, in the morning, His Eminence will officiate at the Matins Service and preside over the Poly-Hierarchical Divine Liturgy (7-11am), which will also take place at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady, Sydney.
After the Divine Liturgy, a reception will be held in the hall of Saint Andrew’s Theological College, where the Archbishop will receive the wishes of the clergy and laity of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
In the evening of the same day (from 6pm) there will be a celebratory dinner held at the “Le Montage” function centre. During the event, donations will be accepted which will be allocated for the needs of the renovation of the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady, Sydney.
