A visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Belgrade is set for October, coinciding with the completion of works at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Sava, a project funded by Russian donations.

The iconic cathedral is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.

The cathedral features a rigorous symmetrical layout, with its interior cladding covered with roughly  12,000 square meters of gold mosaics — which are a donation of the Russian Federation.
