Rallies, protests continue in Montenegro over contentious, unjust law on religious institutions

The tense situation in Montenegro continues, with the Orthodox Church and the faithful in the small Adriatic country resuming peaceful opposition to a controversial law regarding religious institution — and amid stepped up persecution by authorities in that country.
Rallies, prayer vigils and protest marches were again held on Sunday, as opposition resumed after months of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of people on Sunday gathered in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Ascension in the capital of Podgorica, before marching through the streets of the Montenegrin capital, led by the Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios.
