A handful of eastern Aegean islands face their own tribulation amid Holy Easter Week.

Remote chapels on the island of Lesvos continue to fall victim to sacrilegious vandals, despite imposed restrictions on movement.

The problem is particularly acute around the notorious Moria “hotspot”, where thousands of would-be asylum seekers and illegal migrants, practically all from predominately Muslim countries, are hosted, and after landing on the island from the opposite Turkish coast.
