Work continues towards the restoration of the historic monastery of St. Dionysios, which lies at an altitude of 900 meters in the foothills of Mt. Olympus, in north-central Greece.
The monastery, built in the 16 century by St. Dionysios, was blown up by the occupying Nazi German forces in 1943.
Works began in 1990, according to Hieromonk Silouan, who added that a full restoration of the monastery is a debt that will be paid by its monks.
The Monastery of St. Dionysios was continuously active for 500 years.
