A Romanian monk, Fr. Seraphim, has established an Orthodox monastery in Scotland, the first Orthodox monastery in the ancient land for at least a millennium.
The monastery is dedicated to the Celtic saints, with Fr Seraphim noting that “… In its first millennium, when there was no split between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, these isles hosted hundreds of monasteries and thousands of monks and nuns. Today, I am the only Orthodox monk in this land.”
