The Patriarchate of Romania this week issued recommendations to the faithful, asking them to strictly follow the rules announced by the country’s health ministry in the face of increased reports of coronavirus infections in other European countries, especially Italy.
The Romanian Orthodox Church advised people who feel they have the flu or flu-like symptoms to avoid crowded places, including churches, so as not to expose others to the possibility of coming into contact with the coronavirus, reminding that the Holy Liturgy broadcast by radio and television.
Moreover, the faithful can avoid kissing the icons in church and can request to receive the Holy Communion with a spoon they bring with them.
The announcement comes as Great Lent commences on March 2.
