The deputy head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external Church relations, Vakhtang Kipsidze, reiterated the Church’s opposition to the concept of surrogate mothers and the legal notion of surrogacy.
He stated that “…Speaking as a citizen of Russia, I do not want the country in which I live become a field for testing of reproductive technologies, where our women become an object of exploitation by rich foreigners.”
