An ongoing public information campaign by the Russian Orthodox Church to dissuade would-be mothers from choosing abortion, and, in general, to promote motherhood, appears to be generating results.
Participants at a recent conference heard that recent surveys show an increasing number of people in Russian consider the prospect of an abortion as something negative and morally unacceptable.
Representatives included members of chambers of commerce, the Moscow Patriarchate’s Synodical Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry, as well as officials from the Samara regional entity.
