Russian mission in Syria to restore monuments at archaeological site of Palmyra

A delegation of Russian archaeologists and restorers visited the Russian Orthodox Church’s mission in the Syrian capital of Damascus this week.
The archaeologists and restorers are working in war-ravaged Syria to restore monuments at the very significant archaeological site of Palmyra, an UNESCO world heritage site.
The group were received by the Abbot Arsenios Sokolov at the chapel of St. Ignatius Theophorus in the Damascus, and were also briefed them over the conditions faced by the Christians in Syria.
