The official website of the Russian Orthodox Church confirmed on Tuesday evening that hegumen of the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo, Moscow, Archpriest Alexander Ageikin has died of complications caused by coronavirus.

“Father Alexander has died of a severe disease with complications caused by the coronavirus infection,” the Russian Orthodox Church website said in a statement.

The priest was 48 years old.

Father Alexander slipped into a coma around midnight and passed away on Tuesday morning, an informed source in medical circles told Interfax earlier on Tuesday.
