Russian Orthodox Church reiterates position over reference to God in new Russian constitution

The Orthodox Church in Russia continues to exercise an active role in ongoing discussions regarding constitutional revision, with the Patriarchate of Moscow reiterating its position in favor of the addition of a reference to God in the new Russian constitution.

In revisiting the issue, the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for Church Society and Mass Mediа Relations, Vladimir Legoida, underlined that the proposal for such a reference, officially made the Patriarch of Russia, is significant in commencing such a dialogue.
