The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, on Tuesday visited the St. Vladimir children’s hospital in the Russian capital, on the occasion of Christmas Day – celebrated by the Russian Church based on the Julian calendar.
His Holiness visited the intensive care ward and the newborn nursery, where he spoke with infants’ parents, while bestowing upon them his blessing.

In a statement, the Russian Patriarch said “… I am happy when I visit the hospital on Christmas Day in order to meet with those receiving medical care, and with their physicians.” He also referred to the difficult hours faced by parents with hospitalized children, the important of faith during such tribulations and the crucial work of nurses and doctors.
