The Russian television station Kul’tura is set to broadcast a documentary entitled “Orthodoxy and Albania”, on the occasion of the 90th birthday of the Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios.
The documentary, produced by the Moscow Patriarchate’s department of external Church relations and its chairman, the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, His Eminence Hilarion, details the history of the Orthodox Church in Albania, from the Apostle Paul and the early Christians down to the unprecedented 20th century persecution and oppression of Orthodox believers under a harsh communist regime for much of the latter half of the 20th century.
His Beatitude Anastasios is interviewed for the documentary, with extensive references to efforts to revive Orthodoxy in the Adriatic country.
