Members of the Episcopal council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro this week expressed their admiration and gratitude towards the citizens in the small Adriatic country for defending, as they said, the Church and its saints over the past few months.

Results of a general election in late August ended the two-decades-long reign of president Milo Djukanovic, whose government over the past year passed and tried to implement a controversial law that the Church in Montenegro decried as an attempt to strip it of its properties and relics.
