Serbian Patriarch Irinej bestows Church’s highest decoration to President Vucic
The Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Irinej, this week bestowed the decoration of the Order of St. Sava, the founder of the Serbian Church, to the country’s president, Alexander Vučić, on the occasion of the 800-year anniversary of the establishment of the Autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church.
In a brief statement afterwards, the Serbian president said the honor comprises yet another reason for him to continue the struggle for Kosovo and Metohija, as well as for all Serbs that live west of the Danube, in Montenegro and elsewhere.
The decoration of the Order of St. Sava is the highest distinction bestowed by the Serbian Orthodox Church.
