Serbian Patriarch meets with members of US Commission on Int’l Religious Freedom in Wash. D.C.

Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Irinej, met this week with members of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, during his visit to Washington D.C.

Patriarch Irinej was greeted by the Commission’s chairwoman, who expressed her joy over the visit of Serbian Orthodox Church Primate and his delegation. His Holiness outlined the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church on various topics related to the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The meeting was held with the attendance and the participation of His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadia, a member of the Holy Synod of Bishops, as well as other Serbian Orthodox hierarchs in the United States.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom is a US federal government commission created by the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998. Commissioners are appointed by the US President and the leadership of both political parties in the US Senate and the House of Representatives

His Holiness departs for New York City today.
