Sixteen years since helicopter crash claimed life of Patriarch of Alexandria Peter VII

The tragic anniversary of the crash of a Greek military transport helicopter off Mt. Athos in a sea region in the northern Aegean, was observed on Friday.

The 2004 aviation accident claimed the lives of 17 people, including the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Peter VII.

The reposed Patriarch’s successor, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, arrived today on Cyprus for a week-long visit, where he will be received by the island republic political and ecclesiastical leadership.
