A spokesman for the Moscow Patriarchate on Monday underlined that the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, prays for a quick and peaceful resolution of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, which again escalated into an outright military clash over the weekend.
According to Vladimir Legoyda, the head of the Synodal Department for Russian Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media, the Russian Patriarch considers the role of the spiritual leaders of the two involved countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan, to be essential. Therefore, they should do everything in their power to establish peace.

The press secretary of Patriarch Kirill also recalled that “…the Russian Orthodox Church has always contributed to maintaining a dialogue between the religious communities of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and is ready to continue to fulfill this mission.”
