On Wednesday, June 26, the children of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania had a fantastic time learning the art of making Prosfora. They enjoyed getting hands-on in the kitchen, learning about this sacred tradition and the significance it holds in our church community.
In the parish’s religious class, they experienced a journey of spiritual learning as we delved into a meaningful lesson about the holiness of icons and sacred areas within our church. It was a truly enriching experience for the children as they learned about the significance of icons in our faith. Father Alexandros Kaitidis guided them in the church, focusing on fostering a deeper appreciation for the role of said icons and relics in our worship and prayer.
Later in the day, they had a blast in the kitchen where they learned how to make gemista-stuffed peppers and tomatoes. The aroma of freshly baked cupcakes filled the air, adding to the joy and excitement of the day.
