In the wake of this week’s meeting in Tbilisi between the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, with visiting US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the US State Department in Washington issued a statement, stressing that the Secretary was pleased to meet with His Holiness, and that during the meeting they discussed Georgia’s important role in promoting and protecting religious freedom around the world.
