Support from the Ecumenical Patriarch to those affected by the bad weather in Lemnos and Rhodes

Through a patriarchal letter, addressed to His Eminence Metropolitan Ierotheos of Lemnos and Agios Efstratios, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed the sympathy of the Mother Church and Him personally for the effects of the devastating bad weather that struck the island of Lemnos in the previous days, causing the death of two people.

The local Shepherd expressed the deepest gratitude of the Holy Clergy and the faithful People of the island to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, while a relevant press release of the Holy Metropolis notes: “His All-Holiness invokes the Grace and infinite mercy of the Saviour all, our Lord Jesus Christ, for our salvation, and supports our afflicted brothers and sisters with paternal concern, praying also for the repose of the souls of our two fellow citizens.”

Moreover, the Primate of Orthodoxy expressed his sympathy for the suffering residents of Rhodes, who were also affected by the bad weather and flooding. In a relevant letter to His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes, His All-Holiness states:

“We express to your beloved Eminence and to the pious flock the sympathy of Mother Church and my own humble self personally for the distress suffered by of your God-saved province from floods and we invoke upon you the grace and infinite mercy of the One who provides all things for our salvation, our Lord Jesus Christ, Whom we pray and whom we beseech to protect your Metropolis from all natural disaster and human treachery, and to strengthen, inspire and guide you for many years to come in the continuation of Your God-pleasing pastorate.”
