On the 2nd Sunday of Luke, 1 October 2023, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, presided over the Holy Sacrament of the Divine Eucharist (Holy Communion) at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Chalcedon, joined by the Protosyncellus, Archimandrite Evgenios Karatzas, Oikonomos of the Ecumenical Throne, Rev. Father Vasileios Ioannidis and Deacon Father Asterios Bantarktsis.
A sufficient number of faithful attended the Divine Liturgy and at the conclusion of the service, His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel spoke appropriately, based on the Gospel passage of the day, urging believers to apply the word of the Gospel and the commandment of Love.
Metropolitan Emmanuel, after wishing everyone a good month, then, having them venerate the Holy Cross, he sprinkled the congregation with the Agiasmos which was conducted according to tradition at the beginning of each new month.
